A wharenui is not just a meeting house, it is intrinsically linked to our identity and to our story's about who we are. It is an acknowledgement of those that have gone before and a legacy to those that will come..
Designing and constructing this wharenui doll house for our tamariki to play and learn with, we knew that we had to get it right.
When you are welcomed onto a Marae and enter into a Wharenui its something different, something special.
We are attempting to capture that wairua with this piece - we hope that each figure and aspect of this wharenui inspires the next lot to take in mind the learning models like te whare tapa wha plus encourage them to ask questions and inspire them with their journey at such a precious age.
So when our children ask about this figure or the shape, this and that. You will be able to teach and pass on the knowledge that was passed down to you. And when they go for their next Marae trip they can impress the local kaumatua on their knowledge and enthusiasm :)
Please name your wharenui if your comfortable with that we would be honored to make that custom for you and your rohe.
